GBos Youth

Intro to Cricket (Ages 6-10+ yrs)

The program is an engaging, inclusive and fun initiative designed for children aged 6-10+ years. Open to both boys and girls, this softball program offers a perfect introduction to the exciting world of cricket!

 

  • Whether your child is new to cricket or already a budding fan, this program emphasizes active learning, confidence building, and lots of fun.
  • This program is a fantastic way for children to stay active, make new friends, and develop their cricket skills in a supportive, fun, and inclusive environment.
  • (1) Youth Participation Form required (see above, fill form & submit), then (2) proceed to registration

 

Details

  • Spring program runs May 3 - June 14 (no class on May 24)
  • 1-hour sessions every Sunday 1PM onwards
  • Six sessions of cricket training and an invitation to watch a live T20 game
  • Each new participant will receive a GBos t-shirt, hat and cricket bat
  • Location: Crumb Field, Lexington, MA

Highlights

  • Ideal First Experience: Great introduction to cricket basics. 
  • Duration: 6 sessions over the spring, with an invitation to watch a local T20 game on June 20/21. 
  • Fundamental Skills: Including batting, bowling, catching and throwing.
  • Gameplay: Rules will be introduced and nuances will be taught in a supportive environment.
  • Parental info: Parents are not required to participate but must stay on premises. 
  • Equipment: Soft balls and plastic bats are used to ensure safety. We will provide everything they need to play.
  • Starter Pack: New registrations will receive a GBos shirt & hat along with a plastic bat.

 

What Will My Child Be Doing?

Children will learn key skills and values through fun, structured activities, including:

  • Batting: Hitting a moving ball with proper technique.
  • Bowling: Introduction to overarm bowling.
  • Throwing: Mastering both underarm and overarm mechanics.
  • Catching: Practicing with small and large balls.
  • Running: Engaging in lots of movement to develop agility.
  • Teamwork: Playing fun games with friends to build teamwork.
  • Communication: Calling, signaling and basic game etiquette.
  • Gameplay: Learning rules and match play fundamentals. 
  • Spirit of Cricket: Learning to respect others and play fairly.

 

Who's teaching?

Our coaches have all played cricket at various levels, some even professionally, and we all have a keen grasp on the nuances and technicalities of the game. To learn more, check out the 'About Us' section.

 

Parental Info

  • Parents are not required to participate, but must remain on the premises during the session.
  • All equipment is provided, including safe plastic bats and soft balls.
  • Forms requiring more information (participant name, date of birth etc.) will be required to fill in above.

 

Important Notes

  • Refunds are available on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of GBos Cricket.
  • No make-up sessions for absences or no-shows.
